So summer is over 'again' and we are back to Fall. Have to say Fall feels pretty nice after last week.
We are counting down the Saturdays to the final Mineral Point Market of 2018. Only FOUR markets left.
With the season winding down we are gradually running out of some of the products that we carry for the Market such as skirt steak, brats, wieners and some of our sausages.  For best selection make sure you come to Market this week and stock up on your favorite beef and pork cuts or perhaps live on the edge and try something totally new. If you need a large quantity or just want to pre-order for pick-up at market, e-mail your order to federman@charter.net by 5:00 p.m. on Friday night. We are offering pick-up of our Meat CSA at market this year - ask us on Saturday for details and how to join. See you soon - All of us at Marr's Valley View Farms.

Here’ the list: heirloom tomatoes, red tomatoes (limited), roma tomatoes, cherry tomato pints, red and orange sweet peppers, a few green bell peppers, jalapenos, eggplant, cucumbers, bunched carrots, beets, red and French breakfast radishes, winter radishes (large, mild root vegetable - pink interior), napa cabbage, kohlrabi, celery, celery root, green butter lettuce, mixed baby lettuce heads, salad mix, arugula, dill, cilantro, thyme, oregano, kale (curly and lacinato), Swiss chard, spinach, delicata squash, bunched green onions, leeks, yellow, red, and Italian bottle onions, and shallots. Shooting Star Farm
Thanks so much to our loyal customers who braved the rain last week. We had a great Market! It sure has been a week for wet for everyone! I’ve had 5 ½- inches of rain the past 6 days. That puts the total over 9 inches in the last 2 weeks. Yuck. Or should I say “muck”. Surprisingly there has been little damage on the farm aside from the outdoor tomato patch. The plants are heavily diseased and won’t last much longer.  With any luck, hoophouse tomatoes will continue through September. I will have a nice selection of goodies for this Saturday. Here’s the list: bulk red beets, broccoli, napa cabbage, green cabbage, kale (2 types), kohlrabi (softball sized), Swiss chard, romaine lettuce, baby lettuce heads, summer leeks (smaller variety), onions (red, yellow, and Italian bottle), cucumbers, cherry tomatoes (sungold, red, grape, and mixed pints), red slicing tomatoes, roma tomatoes, heirloom tomatoes, eggplant, green peppers, red and orange sweet peppers, a few hot peppers (jalapeno and poblano hopefully), cilantro, dill, oregano, parsley, basil, arugula (lots), and possibly salad mix. My baby lettuce did suffer some rot, but I will have a nice “spicy greens” mix if the lettuce is not harvestable. Carrots will be back again next week. See you Saturday!
